I'm not sure how I wound up on your blog, but I agree wholeheartedly with what you had to say. My brother and I are both retired, sharing the simple life in a rural area in western Washington. We only have five acres, but that's plenty for us. We gladly share what we think of as our private park with church groups and anyone who wants to visit.
The story about the lady being so afraid her child would see the calf doing its thing was hilarious. It's hard to believe some people are so out of touch with reality.

Kate, I am glad you are getting better...

we just had this discussion the other day about money. money is horrifying and I am such a proponent of the barter and trade economy....I want to trade chickens for a physical exam with a friendly dr. who knows my family. I want to be able to take the sick neighbor soup and out of gratitude, she would do the same for me....that is not how our world works anymore....and people wonder why I stay home 90% of the time. The world is getting scarier and scarier every time one turns around....

You have a happy turkey day....

Loved your story Kate!! Our family "gets" to go to T.Point for husband's company Christmas party. They decided to make it more family friendly this year (the party) and paid for us all to get in and go to all the stuff there for a couple hours and then dinner at the restaurant. The only other times we have been there was school field trips to the dinosaur museum part. Can you beleive they bus first graders up there all the way from Manti??? I know what you mean about the yuppy moms and I hope you find your land soon...I hope it is down this way!!
